Sharing The Love...
From time to time I'll be sharing the love of what I do. My thoughts, feelings and some experiences as I create.
For artists, I hope it inspires. For potential buyers, I hope it shows my passion, my dedication, the amount of heart and soul that goes into my work and most of all the love. I truly love being creative and if I can share my work with the world in this way, inspiring you to essentially own a piece of me, then this really does feed my soul.
As an artist I know that sharing is a big deal to other artists. I've had the pleasure of being in the company of other artists in online communities and social media. You guys all know who you are and for that I'm grateful. This has been invaluable to me and I know many artists feel the very same way being that it's a somewhat solitary type of working environment.
We all get inspired by other artists. I think we all grow from being engaged with each other from time to time, whether by giving each other tips or advice or just by purely seeing something that puts a fire in our bellies to create our own thing. Something as simple as a colour or a yummy texture can do that for me, but creating something that is just ours is key!
There's a certain satisfaction that comes from knowing the work was produced from our own intuition and emotion. Sure we can learn technique from each other but it's how we put it together ourselves and the things we stumble upon along the way. The "Happy Accidents" that you surprise yourself by that become your thing. That certain way your hand will move to create. That's your signature in the artwork. It's your style just like your own handwriting. Learn to love your own marks. It's those unique differences that make us individuals as artists.
I'm not sharing to be imitated or to do a "how to" (even though I may do that from time to time) or to have clones of myself out there. I'm sharing to put a fire in your belly. Just like others have done for me in the past.
Take time out for yourself in your own little "art world" to really go within, without outside distraction of others work sometimes, to digest and process what it is that really makes you tick and what drives you to become who you really want to be as an artist.
Pay close attention to your own signals and thoughts on your own creative path to make your work YOURS, because being like someone else should never be what an artist strives for. There will always be people who love our work for it's uniqueness. We just need to find them or have them find us. They will be "our tribe".
Happy creating guys! And don't give up on your natural gifts and talents.
I'm a mixed media artist, a wife and a mum to two fur babies and a feather baby. I live on acreage in the beautiful mountainous hills of the Gold Coast Queensland Australia where it's extremely peaceful and allows me to be happily creative.
My blogs here will reflect my creative progress and process from time to time. Thank you for visiting.
